Body Composition
Represents the amounts of all three structural components of the body: Muscle, bone and fat. Because body weight is a combination of these three components, two people of the same height and weight may not appear to be in the same shape. Thus, body weight is not a great way to measure fitness, instead fitness experts measure muscle and fat percentages to determine what kind of shape an individual is in. The National Institute of Health suggests that an adult male's body should be 13-17% fat. Women should fall between 20 and 21 percent fat.
